This COA admission application is reserved for applicants that fall under the Maine Transfer Guarantee, Northland transfer teach-out agreement, or for current Hampshire College students. If you're a first-year applicant or transfer applicant from a different college, please apply via the CommonApp.
Hampshire College applicants
- Your application will be considered complete when we have received your application form and your college transcript. You will not be required to submit academic references.
- Please note: COA can accept up to two years worth of transfer credits.
Maine Transfer Guarantee applicants

Each application is reviewed holistically by several members of our admission committee,
which includes faculty, current students, and admission staff. We are specifically looking for
evidence of:
- Strong academic preparation and achievement
- Intellectual curiosity and a love of learning
- Desire to be part of a small college community with a focus on human ecology
- A tendency to seek out intellectual and personal challenges
- Ability to thrive in a self-directed environment
